Have you ever wanted to share your artwork with others? Have you sought inspiration for your next project? You may wish just to browse various artworks from different students. Then look no further than the Visual Arts Club, a student-led club that brings many art forms to life!
The Channels of the Visual Arts Club:
Inside the Visual Arts Club, students will find many channels dedicated to traditional and unique art forms that allow them to express their creativity to their hearts' content. These channels include drawing, painting, Bible art, and photography. However, the club also offers many less common yet equally impressive methods of art expression, such as channels for Lego and a dedicated channel for Masterpieces for exceptional artwork or project planning. The various channels allow as many students as possible to engage in the club and interact with others.
Student Interaction:
This club does not require students to be experts in their preferred medium. Its main goal is to facilitate student interaction and allow them to receive feedback and encouragement on their artwork. According to Sarah, one of the club leaders, it is also not limited to participating artists: “If you are not an artist but are perfectly content to admire others' work, this is a great place for you, too!” No matter your skill level or willingness to actively participate and share your work, this club is designed to inspire and encourage all students.
Club Challenges and Activities:
However, for those up to the task, the club hosts biweekly challenges that test students’ skills through inventive and unique prompts. These prompts allow students to practice being resourceful and creative when tackling art projects that may be outside their standard medium.
Each month, the leaders host club calls, which provide students a way to engage with one another and the leaders. These informal calls include conversations about potential art projects among students and games such as Gartic Phone. They are an excellent way for students to connect and make new friendships over a common interest.
In the words of Lea, another club leader, “This is a place where everyone can express themselves in their own unique ways. It is also a place where you can exchange tips, ideas and just be part of a community. You also have the opportunity to connect with other students that you have never met before.” The club is not merely designed to be a place to post art pictures, though it certainly offers this as well; it also focuses on building a community of encouraging and supportive students who work together to provide feedback and improve their artistic abilities.
How to Get Involved:
Overall, this club provides students opportunities to interact with others in club calls, improve their skills, and share their artwork with fellow artists. If students want to join the Visual Arts Club, they can find all the details and this year's join code in the Club Connection channel of the High School Building team. Everyone who wishes to join the club is welcome, regardless of prior artistic experience; the leaders would love to see their artwork. Isabelle notes that her favorite part of the club is “...Being able to see into a tiny bit of so many people's lives through their art.”
