All about Navi

Northstar Academy is twenty five years old, but did you know we haven’t had a mascot until very recently? That’s right, and today we are going to learn a little bit more about him! The Navigator thanks Mrs. Armstrong for representing Navi during this interview.

 
 

Name: Navi

Birthday: Friday, April 22, 2022 1:00 PM

What are his favorite things to do? Favorite colors? Navi’s favorite things to do are hang out in Teams and meet with friends. He is also a huge fan of traveling and trying new foods from different cultures. His favorite color is gold.

What is Navi doing to celebrate 25 years of NSA? Navi is traveling around the world to celebrate 25 years!

I heard that our mascot likes to travel. Where has Navi gone so far? What was his favorite place?

Navi’s home base is in Southaven, Mississippi. He has traveled to Memphis, TN; Dallas, TX; Qatar; Malaysia; and Thailand to date.

We only ever see Navi with his helmet on. Does he…have a face? :)

Navi will only be seen in his space suit. This is intentional as he represents our entire NSA community and not just one race or culture.

I seem to recall an email talking about his adventures continuing with “Flat Navi.” What are the details on this program?

“Flat Navi” is inspired by the book, Flat Stanley by Jeff Brown, where a boy named Stanley is flattened and goes on adventures in his community.

2.  Cut out Flat Navi along the dotted lines.

3.  Take Flat Navi on your adventures.

  • Going on vacation? Going to your local park? Take Flat Navi with you and take pictures to document your adventure! 

4. Share your photos and stories with the NSA community.

  • Head over to the Navi Around the World channel in your school building and post your photo(s) and stories through the year!

Flat Navi Tips

  • Print Flat Navi on cardstock or laminate him so that he’s easier to hold in pictures.

  • Take extraordinary pictures.

  • Play “tourist” in your own city! Do you live near any landmarks or attractions?

  • Take Flat Navi on vacation with you.

  • Dress Flat Navi up! Think: sports team jerseys, tourist t-shirt, anything cultural, holidays, etc.

  • Create a video of Flat Navi’s adventures.

  • Have fun! The goal is to expose our NSA community to diverse culture and some fun geography!
