The Pets of NSA

By Rebecca C.

We’ve written about students. We’ve written about teachers. We’ve written about administration… but somehow we’ve overlooked a very important category! The Navigator hasn’t written about pets! I have taken it upon myself to fix this grievous error and introduce some of our four legged friends to the world. World… meet the Pets of NSA!

Student: Hallie

Pet(s) names: Luna and Gus

Species: Dogs

About: According to Hallie, Guz is a lazy but happy dog who is always hungry. He also enjoys chasing the reflections of sunlight, much like a cat. Luna is athletic and friendly and very adventurous! Luna has been with Hallie’s family for four years and Guz for two years.

Student: Jonah

Pet(s) names: Ebey

Species: Cat

About: Jonah tells me that Ebey is the laziest cat on earth. “He sleeps almost all day and he really, really likes food, especially his special wet food, which he only gets every so often,” he said. Ebey is a very stuck up cat, and views his human family as his servants. “[He] only wants to spend time with us when it is convenient for him, this happens to be at very inconvenient times,” added Jonah. Despite Ebey’s rather fickle personality, however, Jonah still loves his cat very much.

Student: Eden

Pet(s) names: Sylvie, Steve, Bao Zi, and Kristoff

Species: A dog, a beta fish, and two sugar gliders

About: Eden’s animals have all sorts of personalities! The dog named Bao Zi is very extroverted. In fact, according to Eden, she’s been known to attack people with excitement! Sylvie, the sugar glider, is sassy and introverted and sometimes isn’t thrilled about being held. The other sugar glider, Steve, is more relaxed than Sylvie and likes to be held. Kristoff the fish likes to be looked at. :)

Student: Hadlee

Pet(s) names: Bitty, Boma, Kawa, Lewis, Mogi, Dolly, Daisy, and Duke

Species: dogs, a camel, a donkey, sheep, and chickens

About: Hadlee’s family has over ten animals! When asked the kinds of animals they have, Hadlee responded, “multiple dogs, a camel, a donkey, five sheep, too many chickens.” The dogs are all sweet and protective. Hadlee tells us that Dolly the Donkey and Mogi the Camel don’t get along well. All the animals have been together for at least three years. Pictured above is a Dachshund named Bitty.

Student: Cadia

Pet(s) names: Willow, Ginger, and Caramel

Species: Dog and guinea pigs

About: Cadia’s dog Willow is a Maltipoo. She loves her family and is goofy, playful, and sweet. This adventurous pup lives in Azerbaijan and has visited mud volcanoes (and gotten quite dirty from them). Cadia described the guinea pigs, Ginger and Carmel, to be, “mischievous, noisy, and cuddly.” Willow has been with Cadia’s family for a year and the guinea pigs for two years.

Thank you to all who sent in pictures and stories into the pets form. The Navigator wishes you and your animal companions a happy and healthy holiday season. :)
