NSA's Got Talent

At NSA, everyone has unique skills and abilities, and no one person is exactly the same. So, when the Student Council proposed NSA’s Got Talent to take place from October 7 to October 19, it was well-received, though people were not quite as excited as the Student Council team had hoped. There were varying responses within buildings, with the High Schoolers and Middle Schoolers being the most active in NSA’s Got Talent, and the Elementary School Building having much fewer responses. However, everyone seemed willing to participate.
One of the winners, Alana, shared about her project. For her talent, she made a video showing several of her paintings, including a fairy, a fox, sunflowers, a boat, people, a castle, and an owl. Alana’s favorites were the sunflowers and the fox. When asked what was difficult about her talent, she replied, “It took a lot of time, and I was making it for a baby shower gift. So, probably the hardest part was that I had to finish it before the baby shower.” Alana was excited to see her hard work pay off when she won the NSA’s Got Talent competition for Middle School.
However, the Student Council judges were forced to make some hard decisions, as they were not able to let everyone win. Two journalists for the Navigator, Onyi, and Grace, both competed, but they were not the winners. Onyi’s talent was lip-syncing a song from the Hunchback of Notre Dame, and Grace’s talent was letting her pet praying mantis crawl on her face. Although they did not win, they both enjoyed the NSA’s Got Talent contest. In the Elementary School Building, it was easy to see who would win, Jocelyn, because she was the only one who submitted a talent, which was shooting a volleyball as far as she could.
After the contest, everyone interviewed had a positive reaction, but the responses differed from person to person. All students who watched NSA’s Got Talent said that it was fun and that they enjoyed seeing the submissions. The students who actively participated seemed to have even more fun, and they were proud of the gifts God had given them. Finally, the judges were glad for a chance to see and encourage everyone’s unique talents and to do the fake talents like breathing and sleeping to generate interest. A few students (about one-eighth of students polled) wished that it had been a little more interesting, but overall everyone enjoyed NSA’s Got Talent. God made everyone to be unique, and NSA’s Got Talent was a good way to celebrate that.
